February 24, 2024TRAVELING MOROCCO IN RAMADAN.   During Ramadan in Morocco, things are different for travelers. The usual way of life takes a break. Traveling in Morocco during Ramadan can turn into a special holiday experience. Traveling to Morocco during Ramadan? During Ramadan, many nearby cafes and restaurants close, but places for tourists stay open as usual. You can still go on tours, use transfers, and have guides, so no worries about getting stuck in your hotel. Buses and trains run in local and intercity areas. In smaller Moroccan cities, local cafes and restaurants might only open in the evening. Plan your lunch ahead, and local drivers usually know where tourists can eat during Ramadan. Avoid eating or snacking in public during the day, and try not to smoke outside. You can do these things at home, in restaurants, or hotels. Drinking water in the city is fine, and no one will find it strange. If you’re on a tour, avoid offering snacks or water during the day. I once traveled with tourists during Ramadan, and they ate ice cream in front of the driver, not realizing it was Ramadan and quite hot at around +40 degrees Celsius. An important part of Ramadan is the iftar breakfast at sunset. Muslims gather to eat, so if you’re at a cafe, you might have to wait for the staff to finish their meals first. Tour drivers aim to reach places before iftar starts. During Ramadan, only foreigners/non-Muslims can buy alcohol, and you need to show your passport at liquor stores. Muslims are not allowed in bars during this time, leading to many local bars closing for the month. What is Ramadan? Ramadan is the 9th month in the Islamic calendar. It’s special because it’s when the Qur’an was revealed to Prophet Muhammad. For Muslims, it’s a month of fasting, which means no eating, drinking, being intimate, or smoking from sunrise to sunset. Fasting is a big part of Islam, one of its five important practices, helping Muslims appreciate what God has given them. In Ramadan, people focus on spiritual things like praying more, helping those in need, thinking about their lives, and getting closer to Allah. Fasting is a way to show Muslims what it’s like to be poor in a world where not everyone has enough to eat. Children under 16, nursing mothers, pregnant women, the sick, those menstruating, hardworking Muslims struggling to support their families, and travelers aren’t required to fast during Ramadan. If someone has a good reason to eat during Ramadan, they can make up for it by fasting after Ramadan ends. This way, they can still observe the fasting practice in a way that fits their circumstances. [...]
February 23, 2024BEST DESERT IN MOROCCO. Best desert in Morocco is, Erg Chebbi dunes near Merzouga are often considered among the best to visit. These towering orange sand dunes offer a quintessential desert experience, especially at sunrise or sunset. Erg Chebbi Desert is a big, sandy place in Morocco. Imagine giant orange hills made of soft sand. It’s like a sea of dunes, and when the sun goes up or down, the colors are amazing. People love to ride camels and watch the sky change colors. MOROCCO SAHARA DESERTS. In Morocco, there are different deserts you can visit, and here’s a simple guide to help you pick the right one for your trip. When you’re thinking about traveling to Morocco, one exciting thing to see is the desert. If you’re a traveler trying to learn about the deserts in Morocco, you’ll find there are many. There’s the Agafay desert near Marrakech, the Sahara Desert of Erg Chebbi, and Erg Chigaga desert. WHERE IS THE BEST DESERT LOCATED? If you’re in Marrakech and want a quick desert experience, Agafay is just a 45-minute drive away. It’s perfect for a day trip or even an evening visit. On the other hand, Erg Chebbi and Erg Chigaga, part of the Sahara Desert, are much farther – about 8 hours from Marrakech. The Sahara is a combo of these, and they’re famous for having places to stay like hotels and camps. So, if you have limited time, Agafay is great for a short visit, but for the full Sahara experience, plan at least 3 days, and if you are a Desert lover we recommend 4 days or more. IS AGAFAY DESERT PART OF REAL SAHARA DESERT? Agafay Desert is not part of Sahara Desert, it is a rocky Desert and a destination for those who not have time to visit the real Sahara Desert of Erg Chebbi and Erg Chegaga golden highest sand dunes. [...]
February 12, 2024SAHARA DESERT IN MOROCCO. Sahara Desert in Morocco is huge and special. Two cool places there are Merzouga and Erg Chigaga desert. Merzouga has big sand dunes that change color in the sunlight. People love camel rides there and the night sky is full of bright stars. Erg Chigaga is another part with vast sand dunes. It’s more remote and gives a peaceful feeling. You can go on a desert adventure and see the stunning sunset. Both places are magical spots in Morocco’s Sahara. MERZOUGA DESERT. Merzouga is a tiny town in the Sahara Desert in the south of Morocco. It’s like the entrance to the Erg Chebbi sand dunes at the town’s edge. These sand dunes are really tall and change colors when the sun is rising or setting. The best way to enjoy the desert is by riding on a camel and spending a night at a desert camp. Many companies offer these trips, but they can be different in cost, comfort, and experience. In this article, we’ll tell you what you need to know before going to Merzouga and share our 5-day desert experience. We’ll also give an honest review and talk about different activities in the desert at the end. BEST TIME TO TRAVEL TO MERZOUGA & ERG CHEBBI DESERT. The best time we recommend for traveling to Merzouga is from September to May. This time of the year, the temperature and weather is usually moderately. In addition we are against the people who not recommend Sahara Desert in summer a reason of there are nice hotels and camps with swimming pool, so you can experience the desert and relax in the swimming pool or your room with AC.   ERG CHIGAGA DESERT. Erg Chegaga, also known as Erg Chigaga, is a stunning group of sand dunes in southeast Morocco. It’s about 500 km from Marrakech, 310 km from Ouarzazate, and just 45 km from the small village of Mhamid. This place is like the charming Sahara desert of Morocco, with its golden sand dunes and different Ergs (sand formations). To explore this wild part of the Moroccan Sahara, you can go on 4wd tours in real adventures. BEST TIME TO VISIT ERG CHIGAGA. The ideal time to visit Erg Chigaga is from October to April when the temperatures are pleasant. In the summer months (June, July, and August), it gets extremely hot, reaching over 50 degrees Celsius (120°F). Almost all camps and facilities in the area are closed during this time, so it’s better to plan your visit when the weather is milder and more comfortable.   [...]
February 12, 2024MOROCCO BEST FOOD. Food is super important in different places and cultures. Morocco, a cool country, has amazing and tasty dishes you shouldn’t miss. When you visit, it might be hard to pick what to eat because everything looks perfect and yummy. Here’s a list of the top ten best Moroccan dishes to help you decide. These dishes are like masterpieces in the art gallery of Moroccan Cuisine, and you definitely want to taste them! TAJINE: Tagine gets its name from a special clay dish used to cook this flavorful meal. It’s a spicy and delicious food made by slow-cooking meat and veggies in a shallow clay pot. The cooked mix is arranged in the pot in a cone shape, making it look really cool. People eat it straight from the pot with Moroccan bread, making it extra special and a big part of Moroccan cuisine. COUSCOUS: Couscous is Morocco’s favorite dish and tops the list of their best foods. It’s made from crushed steamed wheat and served with a spicy meat stew. Even though couscous is loved in Northern Africa, it’s especially popular in Morocco, eaten by most families every week. If you’re a vegetarian, there’s Couscous tfaya with caramelized onions and raisins – just as tasty as the one with meat stew. MECHOUI: Mechoui is a well-known dish in Moroccan cuisine – it’s basically spiced and roasted lamb. To make it, the tender meat of a whole lamb is roasted in deep pits. If you don’t have pits, you can still make Mechoui with a Moroccan recipe that doesn’t need a whole lamb. It’s served to guests, and you don’t need any utensils – just tear the tender meat with your hands and enjoy one of the best things in Moroccan cuisine. HARIRA: Among many delicious stews in Moroccan cuisine, Harira shines as one of the best. It’s crafted from vegetables, rice, meat, herbs, and spices, holding great importance in Moroccan culture. Mostly enjoyed during special events like Ramadan, Harira is versatile and can be made all year round. When served, it comes with boiled eggs seasoned with salt, cumin, dates, and other dried fruits, tailored to the guests’ preferences. ZAALOUK: Don’t forget to try Zaalouk when you’re in Morocco – it’s a special native salad made with eggplant, garlic, tomatoes, and spices. Often served as a side dish, Zaalouk is perfect as a dip with crusty bread. What’s intriguing is that it can be made in various ways, adapting to the preferences of those enjoying it. Moroccan Cuisine offers different types of Zaalouk like Pumpkin, Carrot, and Pepper Zaalouk, providing a tasty variety. ASTILLA: A must-try in Morocco is the b’stilla, a uniquely crafted pie made with tender meat from young pigeons or squabs. This sweet and flavorful meat pie is layered with various spices, wrapped in delicate phyllo, and baked to a perfect golden color. Known for its intricate preparation, b’stilla is usually reserved for special occasions but can be savored at restaurants for a slightly higher cost. It stands out in Moroccan Cuisine with its distinct look and intense flavors.   [...]

February 3, 2024HOW MUCH TIME IS BETTER TO SPEND IN MOROCCO? How much time is better to spend in Morocco? Two weeks is the perfect time to explore Morocco, but you can still get a good sense of the country with just one week or, even better, at least 10 days. However, you’ll face some tough choices about what to include in your Morocco travel plan. For instance, if you dream of riding camels in the Sahara and spending a night in a desert camp, it’s a challenge in a one-week itinerary unless you focus on Marrakech and the desert. The drive from Fes to Merzouga at the Sahara’s edge is over eight hours, even farther from Marrakech. With only 7 days, you can still have a camel desert experience, but it might be in a rocky desert. Likewise, squeezing in the beautiful Blue City of Chefchaouen in the far north is tricky with just a 10-day Morocco plan, unless you’re willing to skip the desert. Even in our 12-day trip, we found it a bit challenging. HOW TO GET TO MOROCCO? Many visitors from the United States usually fly into Casablanca, but there’s a chance to land in Marrakech if you connect through Europe. U.S. cities with direct flights to Morocco include New York, Washington D.C., and Miami. In Europe, you can find direct flights from cities like Paris, London, Lisbon, and Madrid. Major airlines such as Air France, British Airways, and Royal Air Maroc offer direct flights. Additionally, budget airlines like Ryanair and Easyjet provide affordable options for flying to Morocco. WHERE TO STAY IN MOROCCO? As we go through each destination in the Morocco travel plan, I’ll provide specific hotel and accommodation recommendations. However, I suggest all visitors in Morocco explore authentic Riads and boutique hotels. While we had an amazing stay at the Four Seasons in Marrakech, some of our other stays, in more local places, left an even greater impression. [...]
February 3, 2024IS IT MOROCCO SAFE TO TRAVEL: Is it Morocco safe to travel? Morocco has become a popular destination for many travelers seeking adventure and a unique experience. When you visit a country like Morocco, known for these exciting qualities, you might notice differences in public safety and societal norms compared to what you’re used to. Is it Morocco Safe to travel? Generally, Morocco is a safe place to travel as long as you know and follow its laws and cultural customs. The country has relatively low crime rates, but it’s important to be cautious about scam artists and pickpockets, which can sometimes be common in Morocco. Stay aware and enjoy your travel experience responsibly. Morocco is a popular destination in North Africa, offering a unique cultural blend that stands out from other places. Despite its overall safety, it’s important not to overlook precautions when planning your visit. Our helpful guide and a bit of common sense can go a long way in ensuring your trip to Morocco is not just safe but also awesome. Is it Morocco safe for women? Many people have concerns about whether Morocco is safe for women due to some negative publicity in the past. However, it’s important to recognize that Morocco has undergone significant changes in the last decade. It is now one of the most visited countries in Africa, contributing positively to its economy through tourist spending, which benefits the local people. The majority of locals are keen to ensure that travelers, including women, have a positive and enjoyable experience in Morocco. Safest place in Morocco: Merzouga region. Let’s explore a city that’s a bit away from the usual crowd. Merzouga, situated at the edge of the Saharan sand dunes in the Erg Chebbi region, is a small town providing a chance to discover Bedouin life. Exploring Merzouga can be done by jeep or on camelback, making it a unique and memorable desert adventure. The dramatic natural scenery offers an unforgettable experience, and visitors can enjoy this without any major safety concerns.   [...]
February 1, 2024MOROCCAN SAHARA DESERT TOURS. Moroccan Sahara Desert tours to Erg CHEBBI, and Erg Chigaga Desert. Morocco desert is a big draw for many travelers. It pulls them into the heart of the Sahara, the world’s biggest hot desert. Nowhere else in the world does the desert show its greatness more than in Morocco. The famous orange sand dunes, surprisingly, make up only a small part of the Sahara here. Deserts like the Sahara get very little rain, usually less than 250 mm each year. These dry lands can be either cold, like Antarctica and the Arctic, or hot, like the Sahara or Arabian Desert. Because of climate change and too many animals eating the plants, these dry areas are getting bigger, pushing away both the wildlife and the people who live there. ERGS: When thinking about a Moroccan desert, you might imagine big areas of sand dunes called Ergs. These are like the gems of the desert, showing its beauty. In the daytime, they look like wide stretches of golden sand with camels walking gracefully and tents providing some shade. When night falls, Ergs change. With the sky full of stars, campfires light up the silhouettes of stories shared by both travelers and locals. One famous Erg is Erg Chebbi near Merzouga, a popular spot because it’s easy to get to and has many places to stay. Another one, Erg Chigaga, is hidden near the calm M’Hamid. It gives you a real and untouched desert experience, away from the crowds of tourists. ERG CHEBBI DESERT: Chebbi dunes are some of the best sand dunes to explore in Morocco. They’re easy to get to, making them a top choice for travelers worldwide compared to other sand dunes in the country. These dunes, called Erg Chebbi, are found in the Moroccan Sahara desert on the southeast side of the country. They’re about 30km away from Erfoud and Rissani towns and 558km from Marrakech. The Erg Chebbi desert is just one of many Sahara dunes in Morocco. It’s formed by sand blown in the arid lands of the Southeast, covering an area of 28km with dunes reaching up to 250m in height. These dunes have a reddish color that glows with the sunset and sunrise, creating a magical view for your vacation in Morocco. We offer the best private Desert tours to Erg CHEBBI desert, and we recommend at least 4 days desert tour and more to explore the best of Erg Chebbi sand dunes. ERG CHIGAGA DESERT: Erg Chigaga is a special place in the Moroccan desert. Unlike the popular Erg Chebbi, Erg Chigaga is more hidden near peaceful M’Hamid. It gives you an authentic desert experience away from many tourists. The dunes here are untouched and offer a unique and quiet adventure. If you want a calm and real desert vibe, Erg Chigaga is the place to explore in Morocco. Join us your Moroccan Sahara Desert tour.   [...]
January 29, 2024BEST THINGS TO DO IN TANGIER:   Tangier is a special port city, and not many places in the world have the charm it does. It’s got a magical literary history, tangled streets in the Kasbah, and a beautiful Grand Mosque. This city, like a doorway to Africa, is just about an hour’s boat ride from Europe. It keeps capturing the hearts of the many visitors who come each year. Check out our guide for the best things to see and do in Morocco’s favorite harbor town. Grand Socco: This big square is on the west side of Tangier’s old town, just outside Bab Al Fahs. It’s like a roundabout with a fountain. People like to hang out here because it has grass and paved areas. It’s a good spot to chill in the evenings, with ice cream sellers and sometimes some entertainment. Cinema Rif: Cinema Rif is at the Grand Socco, across from Bab Al Fahs – hard to miss! It’s not just a cinema but also a café. What makes it special is that it’s an old-style theater, like the ones from your childhood. They show different types of films – alternative, classic, and mainstream. If you want to watch a movie while in Tangier, check the languages beforehand. If you’re just after a drink and a sweet treat, this iconic spot is worth a visit. Many people come to Cinema Rif to enjoy coffee and cake while people-watching. The Kasbah: Don’t miss the beautiful Kasbah like we did on our first visit to Tangier. It was like discovering a whole new Tangier when we discovered the Kasbah on our second visit. It’s a lovely part of the Medina to explore, to brush up on your history, as well as a great place to shop. There are a high concentration of boutique shops as well as a collection of luxury hotels and boutique accommodation. The Kasbah is part of the Medina, but an elevated section at the northern end. We recommend that you start your visit from Bab Kasbah and everything else is a walk downhill. Within the Kasbah you’ll find Espace d’Exposition de la memoire d’Ibn Battouta or the Ibn Batutta Museum. The Kasbah Museum and the Contemporary Art Museum. To get here, from the Grand Socco, enter the medina via Bab Al Fahs. Then follow Rue d’Italie which becomes Rue de la Kasbah. After the parking lot at the top of the hill, turn right into Place du Tabor and in front of you will be Bab Kasbah. Ibn Battuta Museum: This museum is all about the life of the great explorer, Ibn Battuta. He was born in Tangier in 1304 and became the greatest traveler of his time, venturing across Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Even surpassing Marco Polo, he explored most of the eastern hemisphere. The museum, located in Tangier, is a modern, interactive tribute to his life and journeys, with translations in Arabic, French, and English. Born in Tangier, he returned in 1354 and is believed to be buried within the Medina. The museum is well-displayed and provides a fascinating journey through Ibn Battuta’s astonishing life. If you’re into history or curious about this remarkable Moroccan explorer, a visit is highly recommended. For Ibn Battuta enthusiasts, consider prioritizing a visit to his tomb. Though small and inconspicuous, it is believed to be his final resting place. Unfortunately, it was closed during our visit. You can find the tomb on Rue Ibn Batouta, not far from the Kasbah Rose Hotel.   [...]
January 28, 2024BEST THINGS TO DO IN OUARZAZATE. If you’re heading to the Sahara, chances are you’ll pass through Ouarzazate. This city is known for the amazing Kasbah’s and has become a big deal in the movie world too. Whether you’re just driving through or thinking of stopping for a day or two, there are plenty of things to do in Ouarzazate. AIT BEN HADDOU KASBAH: When you plan a trip to Ouarzazate, make sure to include this small village, just 30 km away on the road to Marrakech, on your bucket list. Thousands of these special buildings are scattered across Morocco, especially in the South, where they’re not just reminders of the past but are still homes for many families. The unique and straightforward design of these buildings has drawn visitors from all over the world. The architecture reflects the humble lifestyle of the local people and the grand dreams of desert nobility. In this place, you’ll discover both small, uncomplicated structures and large, intricately decorated mini-palaces. Ait Ben Haddou stands out like a shining gem among the kasbahs, and its charm is heightened by its recognition on the UNESCO World Heritage List. TELOUET KASBAH ( Our Favorite Kasbah ): While many people visit Ait Ben Haddou, the more famous kasbah in the region, don’t overlook Telouet kasbah – it’s a hidden gem worth considering. If you’re on a day trip from Marrakech, you might only have time for one. This kasbah was once the home of Thami al Glaoui, a significant figure in Morocco’s recent history. Known as The Lord of the Atlas, some see him as a wise ruler, while others view him as a traitor. His story reads like a movie script – a Berber chieftain (of the Glaoui tribe) who ruled southern Morocco and later became the Pacha of Marrakech. FINT OASIS: Beautiful Oasis, and just ten kilometers south of Ouarzazate is the Fint Oasis, a stunning spot surrounded by four traditional villages that stand out in the otherwise dry landscape. Hollywood films have also used this oasis as a backdrop. You can explore it with a 4×4 vehicle or a quad bike. Having a guide can help you connect with the locals. While there are some small hotels in the oasis, keep in mind that the accommodations are simple. DESERT TRIP TO MERZOUGA: Ouarzazate is the best point from you can start a desert trip, it is the gate to the Sahara from the high Atlas Mountains. The desert trip from Ouarzazate will allow you to stop in amazing places before getting to the Sahara desert, as well as it’s less drive than from Marrakech. DESERT TRIP TO ERG CHIGAGA: While visiting Ouarzazate, you can take a desert trip to one of the wild Desert in Morocco, as well as from Erg Chigaga Desert you can take the off road of Rally Paris Dakar to Merzouga.   [...]
January 28, 2024BEST 5 THINGS TO DO IN FES: Fes is a special city in Morocco, like a magical place! It’s recognized by UNESCO as a really important site, and it has the oldest and biggest medina in North Africa. This city used to be the capital of Morocco, and many people think it’s still the heart of the country’s culture. When you visit, go inside the old walls of the medina – it’s a bit chaotic but amazing! You’ll find spice towers, handmade crafts, bathhouses, and places where they make leather. The past feels alive here, so spend a day or two enjoying all the cool things Fes has to offer! 1. THE MEDINA OF FES: The medina of Fes, known as Fes el Bali, is super old – it goes back to the 9th century and is the biggest in North Africa! It’s a big deal, so UNESCO calls it a World Heritage site. The cool thing is, when you stroll through the narrow lanes of the medina, you feel the ancient vibes still intact. Fes is proud to have the largest car-free area in any city globally! But, be warned – those narrow streets can make you get lost easily. We got lost a few times ourselves! Make sure you know which signs to follow before leaving your riad or hotel. Even Google Maps might struggle in this maze. If you can, pick a hotel inside the medina to avoid problems – some gates close after 7 pm, and it can be tricky getting back to a hotel outside the walls. 2. BOUINANIA MADRASA: The Bou Inania Madrasa is a famous old building in the middle of the medina. Built in the 14th century as a school, it’s not a school anymore, but you can check out its amazing design. Walk around its beautiful marble courtyard, see the detailed wood carvings, and admire the green mosaic tiles. Next door, there’s a mosque with a stunning green tower that you can spot from anywhere in the medina. This madrasa is the fanciest school in the city! Make sure you don’t miss it – it’s a great thing to do in Fes. The good part is, it’s easy to find as you wander through the medina. Even if you’re not Muslim, you can go in – not all places in Fes allow that. Go early or late for a quiet visit; we went around 4 PM, and it was almost empty! 3. TANNERIES: Don’t miss the famous Fes tanneries – they’re world-renowned! Picture lots of pits with different-colored dye, all used to color animal skins. It’s a unique part of Fes culture and a must-see in Morocco. Just a heads up, the smell is strong! Locals might offer “free mint” to help, but we’ve heard of people paying later. So, it’s a good idea to bring your own mint or a scarf. If the smell is too much, find a nearby roof terrace for a high-up view of the tanneries – a different way to experience it. 4. KAIRAOUINE UNIVERSITY: The Kairaouine Mosque is super old – it’s considered the world’s oldest university and the second-largest mosque in Morocco. It’s a big deal in Fes, especially for the religious folks, so only Muslims can go inside. Even though tourists can’t enter, you can peek through some entrance gates. Check out the beautiful marble courtyard, fountains, arches, tiles, and carvings. You might catch a glimpse of people praying in this ancient building that’s still a working university! 5. AL ATTARINE UNIVERSITY: This small madrassa is a hidden gem – its beauty goes beyond its size. The courtyard at the center is lovely, adorned with geometric tiles on the walls and floor. The intricately carved wooden doors transport you to medieval Morocco. Don’t miss the stunning minaret above! This tranquil spot, not far from the Kairaouine Mosque and Chouara leather tannery, is a great escape in bustling Fes. It’s a fantastic thing to do if you have time! The madrassa is open from 8 AM to 6 PM (always check for religious holidays and events, as times may change). Entrance is 20 Dhs (2 USD).   [...]
January 25, 20246 BEST BEACHES IN MOROCCO: Sidi Kaouki: If you want a quiet and natural place away from busy developments, you should check out Sidi Kaouki beach. It’s a peaceful spot where calmness and traditional living come together. This beach is mostly wild, with sand dunes and plants making it feel like a desert oasis by the sea. Unlike Essaouira beach nearby, Sidi Kaouki doesn’t have strong winds. It’s like a hidden treasure because not many people know about it, and that’s what makes Sidi Kaouki special. Close to a Berber village, life around here is simple and easygoing. People who love surfing come here for the big waves, and they relax in simple cafes and restaurants. You’ll find a few sunbeds if you want to enjoy the sun. And for something different, you can even take a camel ride around the sand dunes. Essaouira beach: Essaouira is an old and special city with a history. In the 1960s, it was a cool spot on the hippie trail where famous people came to enjoy nature and the culture. Now, Essaouira is a busy port city with a nice beach, but it still keeps its traditions. People like Essaouira beach because it’s calm and has shiny sand. In the past, hippies loved hanging out here, and now there are great places to eat by the beach. You can have a tasty dinner in one of the many restaurants with world-class dishes and a beautiful view of the beach. But, if you’re thinking of sunbathing, Essaouira might not be the best place. It’s often windy, and people call it the ‘Wind City of Africa.’ Still, it’s a favorite spot for windsurfers who enjoy the strong winds most of the year. Taghazout beach: Taghazout, a small and traditional village just north of Agadir, is a special place. More tourists are coming here because the government wants to make it a resort town, but right now, it’s mostly visited by backpackers and surfers. This easygoing town is like heaven for surfers who love riding the waves in the summer. Taghazout has a calm and relaxed feeling. Surfers spend time in the town’s bars and guesthouses, and there are lots of surf shops and schools for those who want to give surfing a try. The beach has rough rocks and beautiful golden sand. You can rent a sun lounger and umbrella to relax while listening to the waves. Evenings on the beach are warm and lovely. It’s a perfect spot for some yoga as the sun sets, turning the waves into shades of pink and orange. Legzira beach: A famous and eye-catching spot known worldwide is Legzira Beach with its unique rock formations. What made it stand out were two arches made of sandstone sticking out from the cliffs, but sadly, the bigger one fell in 2016 after being shaped by erosion for thousands of years. The smaller arch is still there, and it’s quite a sight – especially during sunsets when many people take selfies with it. Even though one arch is gone, the beach is still an amazing place to see these unusual rocks. People love Legzira for its sunsets that paint the sky with different shades of red on the rocks. Legzira is quite windy, making it a popular spot for paragliders, surfers, and those who love chasing sunsets. Agadir beach: Nestled between the lively Atlantic Ocean and the foothills of the stunning Atlas mountains, Agadir Beach is a lively part of the busy Berber city. Bathed in sunlight, the beach’s rolling sand dunes stretch from the Sahara desert to the calm sea. Agadir beach is especially beautiful, and the mild weather allows for swimming all year round. Kayaking, surfing, and windsurfing are trendy activities here. From being a small fishing town, Agadir has transformed into a bustling resort city, making it a delightful place to stroll along the seafront boulevard. Pass by cafes and children’s playgrounds, then relax on the soft sands of Agadir beach. Asilah beach: Just six kilometers south of the old, walled town of Asilah, you’ll find Las Cuevas Beach tucked below rounded, dusty cliffs that shield it. Getting there isn’t the easiest – a steep and dusty track leads from the road down to the sand. But, don’t worry, there are other ways to get there. You can even take a horse and cart if you fancy it! On the shore, you’ll see several beach restaurants serving freshly caught fish along with salads and potatoes. If you decide to relax and enjoy a leisurely bite at one of these cafes, you can use their sunbeds and umbrellas for free. [...]

February 14, 2021DESERT TOURS IN MOROCCO. Desert tours in Morocco. There is nothing quite like endless sand on the horizon with only the sound of your breath to accompany you. The Sahara Desert is a once-in-a-lifetime experience don’t miss it while you are touring Morocco. Covering nearly three-quarters of Morocco, the desolate sand dunes of the Sahara Desert are easily accessed from Marrakech, Fes, Agadir, and Ouarzazate. With the rolling dunes and arid terrain that marks the beginning of the great Sahara, comes fascinating nomad cultures and little snippets of the vital role that this part of Morocco played in the Silk Road. Whether you are looking to do a day trip from Marrakech or an extended Morocco desert tour, what you will experience here will be way beyond your expectations. Here are some things to think about while planning your trip to Morocco: ERG CHEBBI AND MERZOUGA: The spectacular sand dunes of Erg Chebbi is known for their huge expanse of dunes and is, therefore, the most popular, and Merzouga is a small town like the other villages near Erg Chebbi desert and its populated with hotels and restaurants. Merzouga is perfect for those looking for a Morocco Sahara desert from Marrakech to Fes or vice versa. For those looking to explore the desert a little more, the Erg Chebbi is something that you can not miss while on a desert tour in Morocco. The tallest dune in Merzouga, the Erg Chebbi is a one-hour walk or camel ride from the town. The view from the dune offers a panoramic view of the mountains in the distance towards Algeria and the seemingly endless dunes of Merzouga. You’ll see the luxury camps dotted across the orange dunes and stretch out into the distance. ZAGORA DESERT: Zagora is the easiest to access for a short trip in Morocco such as this 2 days from Marrakech to the Zagora desert, although not quite as impressive as Erg Chebbi. While day trips from Marrakesh to Zagora are not possible, you will be able to visit these dunes in just two days. The landscape of Zagora is a dry stone desert, so it does not offer the sand dunes like in Erg Chebbi, however, the landscape and experience is still impressive. Zagora Desert provides the opportunity to get in touch with Berber people and live a nomadic life. Around Zagora, you’ll have the chance to see camel caravans which are still used as a means of transport for the Berber people. Zagora is well-known among history buffs for a poster featuring a camel and a nomad reading “Timbouctou 52 jours” which can still be seen in the town. The sign marked the starting point for Saadian caravans’ quest to conquer the city and the beginning of Zagora’s cosmopolitan feel as traders continued to stop their caravans in the town. BOTH ERG CHEBBI AND ZAGORA DESERT : Morocco desert tour can be to Erg Chebbi and Zagora desert with Eco desert Morocco team, for those like desert safari and off-road experience. [...]

But Agadir got completely rebuilt with a modern harbor and a lovely beach to relax and play. Some parts are even reconstructed in an original way. One of these places is the Medina: THE KASBAH OF AGADIR. The Kasbah of Agadir is an old fortress from 1572 which got destroyed by the earthquake in 1960. But it’s still possible to visit the original walls on the hills over the city nowadays. The Kasbah is one of the oldest parts of Agadir. MEDINA OF AGADIR. The Medina in Agadir is the project of an Italian architect Coco Polizzi. He started to rebuild it in 1992. All the buildings are new but designed in a traditional Moroccan way with many details to discover. You can find small artesian stores or sit under one of the many Eukalyptus trees to enjoy the atmosphere. SOUK EL HAD. The market is not only for tourists like many other souks but more for locals which do the daily shopping here. It is divided into different sections. One for artesian goods, another one for clothes, one for spices, and so on. We had so much fun walking around and seeing all the different goods. SOUTH OF AGADIR.
